A long time ago
There was good.
No superfluity
Of expression
Was required.
It was
what
it was.
True
Lovely
And of good report.
No decay nibbled
No DNA degraded
No eroding time.
No roses with thorns
No bees with stings
No stinging nettle.
Whole
Lovely
Perfection
Then darkness entered
Besmirching
And besmearing
Warping
Deforming
And destroying
Twisting into grotesqueness
God's lovely
Workmanship.
So we stumble.
Riddled with radiation
Besieged by bacteria
Cursed with cancer
Doomed to witness
Our world's demise.
I exist.
Flooded with an
Unholy cocktail
Of poisons
Toxins
Carcinogens
We remain.
Subject to fuzzy minds
And forgotten keys
Parkinson's
And Pizza Hut
Mutations
And MSG
Yet still we wait
In hope
For restoration.
How lovely your world
O God
And how awful its fall.
Through dust and ashes
I wander
Searching for fragments of beauty.
